Website launch checklist
Before you share that new website.
A practical website launch checklist for Lancaster County small businesses: review your business details, project photos, mobile experience, inquiries, and account access.
On this page
1. Check the facts a customer will use.
Read the business name, phone number, email, hours, and service area on every page. Compare them with your real business information and public profiles. Remove services you no longer offer and avoid implying that you have a walk-in location if you do not.
2. Make your work understandable.
Use photos you have permission to publish. Add enough context to explain the work shown. For a contractor, distinguish different project types; for a shop, make the offered services easy to scan. Check that testimonials retain the customer’s meaning and have permission to appear.
3. Try the site from a phone.
Open the navigation, read a service page, browse project photos, and tap the call link. Check for clipped text, hard-to-use controls, and unnecessary horizontal scrolling. Try the key pages on a slower connection too.
4. Send a real test inquiry.
Submit the form with test information and confirm that it reaches the right inbox. Check the confirmation and error messages. Decide who is responsible for responding to new inquiries. A successful-looking form alone does not prove the message arrived.
5. Check discovery and sharing.
Give each important page a clear title and description. Follow internal links and check that old URLs lead somewhere useful. Confirm that public pages can be crawled, the sitemap lists them, and your site is verified in Google Search Console. Preview a shared link to check the title and image.
6. Record what happens after launch.
Keep the domain registrar, renewal responsibility, hosting information, and account owners in a business-controlled record. Confirm how content changes, backups where applicable, and support requests will work. See ownership and care questions for the decisions to settle.
